Here's some profiles of just some of the exhibitors:

Braunston Church of England Primary School display of pupils’ work at the Arts and Crafts Festival (via Andrew Alsop):

Children from our primary school were very busy before their summer holidays and have prepared a display of 2D and 3D art and craft work for us to enjoy at the festival. We are very glad that the school has contributed to our first village arts and crafts festival.

Do come along on this Saturday (10:30am-5pm) or Sunday (2pm-5pm) to view their work!

Remember! There will be plenty for children to do, including practical art and craft and a competition! The Arts and Crafts Festival is for the WHOLE FAMILY!

Exhibitor Profile - The Crafty Cat Paint Your Own Pottery & Craft Studio

My name is Sue Barnwell and I have lived in Braunston for about 20 years. I work at Braunston School as a Teaching Assistant, and have been running The Crafty Cat Paint Your Own Pottery & Craft Studio from a shop base, and on a mobile basis, since 2006 - We are now based at Coombe Country Park Visitor Centre near Brinklow, Coventry, but can run as a mobile unit anywhere needed. You don't have to be an artist to create a masterpiece! Painting pottery is easy, fun and for any age and ability. You can even use your fingerprints and handprints to create designs. It is great for making a bespoke and unique keepsake, parties, groups and organisations or you can even have a take-away home box so you can paint at home and return to me for firing. After giving a few basic instructions and guidelines you choose your pottery (bisque), choose your colours (underglazes) and then paint and create. We then take your pottery away for a few days and overglaze and fire it in a kiln. We then return it to you (or from a designated pick-up point). We will be bringing a selection of our pottery to choose from and a few painted items to give some design inspiration, together with some books for reference too. We will be bringing small items like hangers, animals and bugs, plates and mugs and bowls - also bigger items like money boxes and ornaments. Come along and get creative and produce your own masterpiece!

All Saints' Roof & Stonework Restoration Work - There will be 2 displays at the Arts and Crafts Festival about this:
(From Charles Dunn, All Saints' PCC)
After 2 years of form filling and fundraising we are now getting to grips with the detail work needed to solve the urgent problems of our church building.

The first part of the display at the Arts and Crafts Festival has photographs detailing the problems with our roof/stonework and the damage this has caused inside the church.

The second display shows the work we still have to do on the way forward from here until the anticipated start of work on site in the middle of next year.

On-going fundraising through the PCC, Heritage Lottery Fund and Friends of All Saints will continue to be essential to pay for the repairs.

The Friends of All Saints' Stall at the Festival will have souvenirs for sale

Mugs £5, Bags £3, Pens 75 pence, Booklet £6

The booklet is a fascinating story of the church and its relations with the canal.

Featured Exhibitor: Andre Gibson - Braunston Photographs
I've had a mild interest in photography since I was about 10, but it's only been in the last 9 months or so that I decided to spend more time going going beyond the basics of point-and-shoot, and try to be more creative, often with post-processing to bring out unusual detail or to influence or enhance the mood that the scene offers.

For the Arts & Crafts Festival I will have a number of unusual photographs taken around Braunston on display, but have concentrated on reproducing the beautiful stained glass windows of All Saints' Church, on posters, canvas, bookmarks, postcards and window-transparencies.

All items on display will be for sale during the weekend, with 100% of profit going towards the Friends of All Saints' Braunston to help with their restoration appeal.

Please do come along and invest in the future of your village church!

Make your own crazy loom band at the Arts & Crafts festival!

Watercolour:
At the festival, there will be a raffle for an original watercolour (see below) - just £1 for five tickets, drawn at the end (5pm on Sunday 17th August ). Proceeds go to the Friends of All Saints'.

This charity can only use its money to help conserve the building and work to ensure that this prime example of Braunston's heritage is passed on to future generations in good condition.
The picture was painted by Matthew Salisbury, an artist from Penarth, South Wales, and given to the Friends of All Saints'.

Featured exhibitor: Chris Burton - Woodworking
All my life I have preferred working with my hands, for most of my working life that was with metal which tends not to be easy to get close to. For the last few years, however, that interest has turned to wood. It started with nest and insect boxes, developed into walking sticks with carved heads, various hand made wooden items followed which extended our range, and so a small craft business was born. The addition of a lathe has vastly extended the range of items we make.

Until you cut into the wood and start to form your shapes the actual grain pattern is a complete mystery, to follow your design can mean removing some of the best bits but the transition from piece of wood to finished item is what gives the most satisfaction. I obtain as much wood as possible locally, all my stick shanks are sourced within a small radius of Braunston, and much of my hardwood is from a local yard.

At the festival, finished examples of what we make will be displayed, additionally the making of a walking stick will be broken down so the process is clear to see.
I am always happy to talk people through my working methods, whilst it is good to sell my items it is even better to encourage others to try for themselves.

Two Little Gems will be there selling and taking orders for personalised wooden crafts and homemade gifts
