Pop Up Pub hailed a success 4 Sep 2013 (The Old Dog & Gun - the village pop up pub) The Pop Up Pub weekend, staged over the August Bank Holiday weekend was a roaring success...

The Pop Up Pub weekend, staged over the August Bank Holiday weekend was blessed with good weather, great real ale and delicious cider and a musical soundtrack that encompassed folk, soul, pop and even electro swing. A percentage of profits raised have been earmarked for Eveleyn House hospice in Daventry where the last landlady of its official pub days, Gertrude Brinkman, passed away aged 98 in July 2013.

Around 200 people turned out over the weekend and consumed everything! I very much wanted to say thanks to everyone who was involved - all the Djs and live musicians, Simon Martin for helping with the sound, those on the 'crew' who gathered around when it was most needed. But especially for two 'without who's - Natalie, who worked tirelessly taking food orders, collecting glasses and effectively running front of house for us, Kellie who not only put in two very very long days prepping and cooking on the weekend itself, as well as many many more hours before and after the event. And to Alan Johnson (a better bar manager I could not imagine) who dealt with non-stops queues for several hours on both days, but kept his sparkle throughout and many new friends (he isn't on Facebook but asks me to send his thanks for all the warm appreciation). And to others in the village who offered fridges, freezers, air conditioning, tables, chairs, advice, tolerance of my wayward idea ...and other essentials. We shifted around 320 pints of real ale, 300 ciders/perries, 60 bottles of wine, five cases of Prosecco, 50 poughmans lunches and 80 servings and pasty and mushy peas! And people seemed to enjoy themselves...Props to those who came and made it one of the best parties I can remember in recent history. You are all stars!!
