Teddy Bears Picnic
A large number of WI members from local groups visited Braunston Village Hall today with their Teddy Bears!
Do you know why Winnie the Pooh wears a jacket or what Rupert the Bear was dressed in originally or how interest in Teddy Bears declined in the 1980s.
At Braunston Village Hall answers to these questions and many more were provided by Dr Gillian White through her very enjoyable talk,"The Hugely Huggable History of the Teddy Bear". We learnt about the origins of the Teddy Bear and how their manufacture has changed over time as well as the many different roles played by Teddy Bears throughout history.
Braunston WI welcomed 70 WI members from local groups and numbers swelled as the Teddy Bears arrived for their picnic too. Braunston WI had decorated the hall to suit the woodland scene.
Thank you to everyone who helped with the organsiing of this very succcessful event.
You never know what you will learn by being a member of Braunston WI. One month it is Egyptian dancing, the next you are challenging your friends with your favourite board games and then the Teddy Bears visit.
Why not come along and find out more, visitors are welcome to join in with our meetings. See our website page for more details.
