Free tree offer to combat climate change

Around 300 trees are set to be planted across Daventry District as part of a national campaign to help combat climate change.

Daventry District Council is offering community groups the opportunity to apply for up to 15 free saplings to plant in public spaces during National Tree Week, which runs from 23 November to 1 December.

Groups can apply for an urban tree pack featuring five each of Crab Apple, Hazel and Field Maple trees or a bee-friendly pack including two each of Goat Willow, Hazel, Crab Apple and Rowan trees.

The offer is being made as part of the Woodland Trust’s Big Climate Fightback initiative – a campaign to get one million people to join the fight against climate change by pledging to plant a tree by Saturday 30 November, during National Tree Week.

Interested groups should download an application pack from www.daventrydc.gov.uk/treeweek and submit it ahead of the deadline at 5pm on Monday 4 November.
