Energy awareness day 26 Nov 2019 (Braunston Parish Council) Energy awareness day could save you money on your bills

Energy awareness day could save you money on your bills

Advice and support to help people heat their homes more cheaply will be on offer during an energy efficiency awareness day in Daventry.

The drop-in event takes place in the reception area at Daventry District Council’s (DDC) Lodge Road offices from 10am until midday, and then from 2-4pm on Monday 9 December.

People can pick up advice about getting the most from their central heating, understanding energy bills, reading their gas and electricity meters, the installation of smart meters, and saving money on their bills.

There will be information about the Northamptonshire Energy Saving Service, which offers free independent advice to residents, and the Warm Homes Fund, which installs free central heating in eligible homes across the county.

Visitors are invited to bring a recent energy bill or annual statement with them so they can register for DDC’s Big Switch energy scheme and see how much money they could save by changing their energy supplier. There will also be a raffle for a chance to win a Christmas hamper.

The event has been organised by the Daventry & District Forum (DDF) group for over 50s in partnership with DDC and is supported by National Energy Action, a national charity which works to end fuel poverty.

It will be followed by a second event, also at the council offices in Lodge Road, on Monday 20 January 2020.

Information will also be available at DDF’s Annual Tea Dance on Wednesday 4 December from 2-4pm at Daventry Leisure Centre’s Saxon Suite.

Adam Scorer at National Energy Action said: “It is a tragedy that so many people die or suffer the health impacts of living in a cold home when they are largely preventable. This is why NEA committed to provide funding to so many different organisations across the country. We anticipate that the funding will make it possible to provide much needed support for residents within the local area.”
