We are a not for profit organisation with a Board of Trustees and a team of volunteers.
We are fully democratic and the trustee posts are up for election by our members on a regular basis.
The purpose of the Phoenix Community Cafe, Braunston, managed and run entirely by volunteers is, for the public benefit of the community in the village of Braunston and of visitors to Braunston, to provide a communal meeting space with the following objectives:-
- To facilitate and encourage local residents, especially those who are older and/or live alone, to meet with friends outside of their homes.
- To enable local groups and societies to hold informal meetings by providing a relaxed and friendly venue.
- To attract visitors to the village and its canal by providing pleasant refreshment facilities.
- To promote voluntary work contributing to the life of the village by encouraging volunteers to offer their time to help run the Café.
- To advance local charitable purposes (according to the laws of England and Wales) by making grants, as the Trustees see fit, from the Café’s operating surplus.
