Northamptonshire County Council’s  Trading Standards Service are warning businesses to be aware of approaches by contractors offering to tarmac driveways with “left over “materials. Two complaints have been received in the last week from local businesses who have reported that they have been approached by men who have stated that they are working on behalf of the council on local road improvements. The contractors  have gone on to say that at the end of the job they have left over tarmac that they would have to throw way if it was not laid, and that they would return at the end of the week to complete the work at a low price.  At one of the incidents the business owner went out and on his return tarmac had been laid to a very poor standard. The contractor then tried to charge a very high price.
