... who turned out to be the "Almost Archdeacon", Canon Richard Ormeston (previously Rector of Oundle but soon to be Archdeacon of Northampton) and his wife, Jackie who were seeking worship incognito while Richard is between jobs. They contacted Rev Sarah during the week and said that they would come in disguise and sit on the back row. The Rev responded that they might have to fight hard for the back row but that she was looking forward to the disguises. Disappointingly, there were no false noses, wigs or facial hair- apparently clergy think they are in disguise if they don't wear the dog collar- but as it turned out, Richard and Jackie mingled with the congregation and came clean about who they were- and were met with great approval. It was lovely to have a sneak preview and we wish them all the best for their new ministry and look forward to bombarding Richard with faculty applications at the first opportunity!
