March - Laurel cut 18 Jun 2022 (Braunston Canal Society) Lock 6 offside revealed

March saw the culmination of our vegetation clearance season. Sustained with birthday cake from Keith Astley, the Thursday crew of 9 continued this years onside/offside cut. Skippy was taken from the marina, up the flight, to the tunnel and arisings were stacked on the offside. An ad-hoc task party chipped arisings previously stored at the junction water point.

With a crew of 6 for two days the long overdue cutting of the laurel at top lock was completed.  This was only achieved with the use of Skippy to transport the large amount of arisings to the chipper stationed, on the offside, further up the cut. The warm weather was a drain on stamina but with the commitment from the teams to some considerable overtime the task was achieved. The chipper was returned to Norton junction the following day.
