Neighbourhood Plan

As a result of the Braunston Neighbourhood Plan referendum vote the plan was officially ‘made’ by Daventry District Council on 17th February 2017. On this date Braunston became the eighth area in Daventry District to complete the processes. This follows the 2011 change in legislation that allowed local communities to produce neighbourhood plans, the 2012 vote by Braunston Parish Council to set up a Steering group and work towards a neighbourhood Plan and more than four years of discussions and consultation in the community.

The ‘made’ Braunston Neighbourhood Plan is now part of the development plan for the Civil Parish of Braunston. Daventry District Council is the local planning authority that determines all planning applications and is responsible for collectively applying all the policies in the development plan. The exceptions are minerals and waste applications which are determined by the County Council and national infrastructure projects which are determined by Central Government.

The development plan therefore comprises the following three documents:
