During December and January the BCS teams have been rebuilding the steps at bridge 98. Reopening the popular route for Braunston walkers was their prime motivation for accepting the request from CRT for their assistance. After delays due to the canal freezing and time out for the holiday period the project was completed. Eight visits were required using BCS work boat 'Skippy' to transport materials, as well as crews, to and from the site. The crews, made up from 15 volunteers, put in 584 hours to finish the project. As well as the steps, a protective fence and a stile were constructed to ensure safe passage for the public. Great teamwork, including support from CRT, overcame the many challenges to produce a successful outcome.
