The BCS task parties in November focused on the annual maintenance of the grounds at Union Canal Carriers. For the first visit, a crew of 8 having dodged the rain, cleared vegetation and trimmed hedges from the ladder bridge to the composting compound where arisings were stored.
The very cold start on the second visit did not deter the crew of 12 from completing the task. A bonfire was built from existing, non compostable, arisings and those that were generated from clearing the ditch, trimming hedges and pruning the lower branches of the large tree. This will be lit by UCC on a day with a favorable wind direction.
