For the first task party in July a crew of 6 started the towpath restoration work below lock 4. In spite of the day being very warm the team all but completed the french drain extension before they had to leave due to the flight closure. The site was left safe, ready for our return to continue the restoration.
The Saturday crew of 4 finished the french drain extension and prepared the towpath for profiling on their next visit. This will create a gradient that will shed rain water towards the canal. Repairing the damage to the brick coping, caused by boat collisions, will require dropping the pound. It is intended to carry this out later in the year when water resources are less precious.
