In July the two BCS scheduled task parties and five adhoc task parties were all devoted to lock maintenance. Tug 212 & flat, on loan from CRT, provided a platform to enable scraping of vegetation from the lock gates. Lock mechanisms were oiled and greased, the cill markers refreshed with a new coat of paint and encroaching grass and weeds removed from the stonework. A CRT operative, with the support of BCS, replaced a rotten paddle post at lock 5.
