Work boat 'Avon' was made available to BCS on Tuesday 25th Feb. It was moved from Watford to Braunston ready for the weeks tasks. Making good use of Avon the Wednesday crew of four removed a tree that had fallen into the canal above top lock before successfully scrapping vegetation from all the lock gates on the flight. A delivery of 4 ton bags of stone and grit was loaded onto Avon at the Marina on Thursday morning and then she was moored above lock 3 ready for Saturdays task party.
The task party was preceded by a heavy rain shower. The day improved from then on but the damage had been done. The task was to unload stone and grit from workboat Avon to restore the towpath at lock 4. The towpath was awash with runoff from the adjacent fields restricting the areas BCS could wacker in the stone. A ton and a half was laid and the rest stored on site for use when the flood subsides.
Avon was returned to Norton yard on Sunday.
